Terre Rouge Ballet

Dance & Performance (D&P)

TRB offers classes for 3 – 5 year old children (Kindy and prior) in Karratha and Dampier. These classes enhance a child's imagination, expression, musicality, spatial awareness, socialising and performance skills. These are especially fun classes that are structured to build confidence in the young person for their future. The carefully designed D&P programme has been highly successful for many years and has proven to be an excellent grounding for entry into Ballet 1 and beyond.

Junior School

Ballet 1, 2, 3 & 4 classes (RAD Pre Primary-in-Dance and Primary)

These classes cater for 5 to 9 year olds in the classical ballet style. Children commence in either Ballet 1 or 3 depending on age and are assessed to do additional classes in Ballet 2 & 4 if the registered RAD teacher feels they would benefit from participating in an RAD Presentation Award or Exam.

Intermediate School

Ballet 5, 6 & 7 (RAD Grades 1 - 3)

These classes are for students aged 8+ years. Students study ballet, character, free movement, contemporary* (optional) and participate in strength and stretch classes.

*Contemporary classes are designed to combine the technical aspects of ballet with freedom of movement and fluidity. Still graceful, this dance form is expressive and interpretive, encouraging the dancer to build a strong connection to the music.

Senior School

Ballet 8+ (RAD Grades 4 - 8) classes are for older students and continue with all styles from the Intermediate school, increasing in complexity and requiring much dedication from the student.

Following RAD Grade 4 or 5, a student may be deemed suitable to follow the vocational stream of the RAD syllabus, entering at the Intermediate Foundation level, the first of six. This stream is suited to the dancer who may wish to pursue a career in ballet, preparing them to an advanced standard. A great amount of commitment is required at this level. N.B. Students may study both streams simultaneously if the Principal feels it is advantageous for the individual to do so. In this way a Grade 6 dancer, for example, may be ‘extended’ in his/her syllabus class by also attending Intermediate Foundation or Intermediate classes, without necessarily having the intention of sitting the vocational exam.

Ages are a guideline only. Prior experience and assessment by the registered RAD teacher will determine class placement with the exception of D&P which is determined by school class (prior to and including Kindy).
